Trustees Discussion

Objective:
Medical Consultations and Screening for Early Leprosy and Tuberculosis in Salem Rural, July 2010.
Discussion:
Educational and Social
Health Care in rural areas in general is becoming more and more complex, be it rural or urban in the country.
There is a sense of apprehension among the rural population that health care overindulges in personal and family resources.
Primary health care is imperative no matter how developed a health system is. From our observation we find that it is not adequate to render services to alleviate their health problems alone. It is important to educate as to how and when they can avail such facilities.
There are any number of Government and Private Health Institutions in the State rendering extensive services to the rural population. It is also true that these institutions are doing a great job in improving the health standards of these people. However, the outcome of such initiatives seem quite elaborate to these people. It is an intrigue to them, it stands out as a sore thumb. They have no knowledge of such complex methods in maintaining their lives. It appears as an entity that has to be endured like many other deficiencies in their lives. Can it not be a part of what we are, that would make it simple for us to accept and approach? is their longing.
So we come to the threshold of acceptance and approachability.
Acceptance and easy Approachability is our resolve in rendering health care services to the rural population in Salem.
